Blyde River Canyon
This breathtaking vista at the edge of the escarpment overlooking Kruger National Park is called "God's Window"
Bourke's Luck Potholes is a series of waterfalls and distinctive rock formations created by countless years of water erosion. Bourke got the land dirt cheap after the gold rush had depleted the land of the precious metal. However, much to his surprise, Bourke discovered gold that had settled at the bottom of the potholes and was able to mine it and make a fortune. Forty percent of the world's gold comes from South Africa.
An example of a pothole filled with water.
This "gas station" along the highway was a unique treat. Yes, you could fuel your vehicle and your body, but it was much more. First, the food options were great. There were about 10 - 15 restaurants to choose from including a steakhouse.
What really set this gas station apart was the wildlife preserve in the rear of the facility. Right along the highway, you can glimpse Cape Buffalo, Rhinos, Zebras, Antelopes, and Ostrichs.
